2021 Domaine Courtault-Micehlet Chablis, Burgundy, France $25.99
This Chablis is produced from vineyards located on slopes benefiting from a mainly south, southwest sun exposure in villages of the Northwestern part of the Chablis area (Lignorelles, Beine, Villy and Chablis).
Golden colored and very aromatic with white flowers, fresh fruit, lime, citrus aromas as well as a bergamot. Pleasant mouthfeel, supple, crisp, fruity flavors. There is a touch of acidity, revealing a deliciously integrated minerality.
NV Naveran Cava Brut, Penedes, Spain $12.99
Naveran Brut Vintage is an estate-bottled vintage organic Cava from Alt Penedés. Proprietor Michel Gillieron Parellada's goal with this organic Cava is to show the purity, youth and bright flavor character of the three indigenous grapes used to make it. Xarel-lo contributes body, Macabeo gives aromatic intensity and Parellada lends acidity to the wine.
2020 Chateau De Parenchere Bordeaux Superior Rouge, Bordeauxf, France $18.99
This traditional Parenchère blend is generally very fleshy, with a very deeply colored robe. Characterized by a good balance between fruit and tannin, it displays distinct red fruit aromas with a long, sustained finish. The estate’s traditional wine is produced using vines aged 20 years on average and is usually made up of all the different grape varieties grown on the property.
2020 Los Arraez Arcos, Spain $17.99
This plot is from our quarter-century-old vines, located in the middle of the mountain at 735 meters above sea level. It is the highest plot of the Font de la Figuera. Lands inhabited by wild deer that take care of our vines and appear to greet us during the grape harvest, giving us magical moments.
Made in a 9,000L French oak foudre and later aged in it for 6 months. Our 100% Arcos is a fruity wine with pleasant balsamic notes. A fresh and light wine with a sweet center of mouth and a long and complex finish.
2020 Michel Chignard Fleurie "Les Moriers", Beaujolais, France $28.99
Despite being light on its feet, it bears a soupçon of savory smoke as well as a spine of minerality and staying power more commonly associated with Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie’s neighbor.
That makes sense in this bottling, since the Moriers parcel—a historic lieu-dit that ranked as a first growth in an 1874 classification of the region’s vineyards—is directly next door to Moulin-à-Vent. A bottle of Beaujolais that bears mesmerizing finesse, depth, stamp of terroir, and also happens to stand tall as one of the region’s great values? Put me down for a case!—Tom Wolf
NV Famille Chasselay "Je T'Aime Mais J'Ai Soif" Gamay, France $16.99
Biodynamic/Natural/Low Sulfites This beautiful Gamay is basically declassified Beaujolais. While the fruit is all from the 2019 vintage, the producers didn't want to be hemmed in with the AOC designation of Beaujolais (a small amount of the fruit came from just outside Beaujolais) -- so they decided to release it as a non-vintage Table Wine (Vin De France)! This is a lovely, elegant, Burgundian expression of the grape. It has beautiful aromatics and is done in the local tradition of semi-carbonic maceration and then aged in concrete. The result is fresh, light red fruit.
2021 Chateau Les Croisille “Cocori Cot”, Loire Valley, France $16.99
Malbec and Merlot from 35 year old vines. The grapes underwent carbonic maceration and ageing in concrete to provide a more approachable style of 'big red' from this South-West corner of France.
The Croisille family's winemaking journey began in 1979 when Cécile and Bernard rented an abandoned property on the Causses terroir in Luzech. They dedicate themselves to restoring life into these lands, gradually giving way to plots of Malbec. A true family affair here, with their son Germain joining them in 2008, followed by Nicolas, his childhood friend, in 2010 and finally Simon, the last of the family to become involved in 2015.
20 Yves Leccia "YL" Il De Beaute Rouge, Corsica $32.99
The 1960s in Corsica saw a widespread expansion of viticulture, much of it subsidized by the French government, entailing mass planting of purportedly “noble” French grape varieties in place of the humble native cépages. That trend has now been completely turned on its head as Corsican vignerons reclaim their heritage and focus on the island’s wealth of autochthonous varieties, with great success. In this bottling from Yves Leccia, the French import Grenache—called Elegante in Corsica—takes center stage, offering fragrant notes of lavender spiced with balmy Mediterranean brush. A splash of the indigenous Niellucciu completes the blend, adding some muscle to this savory, floral red whose sunny island flavors come into focus when slightly chilled.—Anthony Lynch
