2021 Kobal  "Bajta Kobal" Pet Nat Rose, Stajerska, Slovenia  $24.99

The terrain of the entire Štajerska region is made up of steep-sloped vineyards and narrow, wind-rich hill valleys. A diverse geological soil composition, consisting mainly of sand and clay with marl in the lower layers. The vineyards spread out over the finest wine-growing sites of Haloze Hills.

Hand-picked grapes are allowed to “bleed” for about 4 hours. It is followed by a natural fermentation that is closely monitored by the winemaker. Once the sugar level reaches the desired level, the wine is bottled with wild microflora and continues fermenting in the bottle.

Tasting Notes: Lively, juicy, mouthwatering, bubbly goodness! It looks cloudy, but it is bright on the inside. Strawberries, raspberries and pronounced yeastiness on the nose lead to a creamy, chewy palate with a slightly bitter finish.

2018 Stagard Gruner Veltliner “Handwerk”, Kremstal, Austria  $25.99

This grüner veltliner is sourced from a selection of south facing, mountain and terrace vineyards all in the Pfaffenberg, but specifically from two lieu dits called Danzern and Pitschental. The grapes were crushed and macerated for 24hr before spontaneously fermenting in stainless steel, and 10% in neutral oak, where it remains on the lees and 2% whole berries for 8-10 months.

This bottle from Stagård– a family estate that’s been producing wine since the 1400s– is classic grüner, with a combination of bright citrus, white pepper, and minerality.

Tastes like: Peach, white pepper, chives, and smoke.

2019 Teliani Valley "Tsolikouri", Lechkhumi, Georgia $16.99

This wine is made from Tsolikouri (tso-lee-ko-oo-ree) grapes, harvested in western Georgian vineyards in village Orbeli – mountainous Lechkhumi district. It is fermented in stainless steel. The combination of the regions elevation, yet more humid climate and stable sunshine hours, creates a wine characterized by high, balanced acidity and a light body, with a light hay color and radiance. Primary aromas include a complex mix of citrus (yellow lemon) and grapefruit. Crisp and clean this wine a is a lesson in refreshing and mineral driven whites from Georgia.

Our Tsolikouri wine has a light-lemon color, aromas of green apple, and fruit flavors of grapefruit and pineapple and a mineral rich and refreshing finish.

2021 Heidi Schrock & Sohne Gelber Muskateller, Burgunland, Austria $25.99

Fermented on the skins for 5 days, then 9 months in Acacia casks of 1500 and 2000 liters.  Sourced from multiple vineyards around the village of Rust.  It is not known for certain how long Gelber Muskateller has been in the Rust vineyards. We do know that this grape variety used to be called Weirer. This name comes from Weihrauch (frankincense) because the nutmeg scent is so prevalent.

Green apple, papaya, pineapple, white flowers, peppermint and flint dominate this rich, extracted and exotic delight from Heidi Schröck. There is a salty minerality throughout and the finish lingers for 30 seconds plus.

Pairs well with fried chicken.

2020 Gonc "Starman" (Orange), Stajerska, Slovenia  $29.99

50% Chardonnay, 50% Riesling

Calling all Bowie fans. Here is a bottle we found just for you. Peter Gönc, one of our favorite lesser-known but up-and-coming winemakers from Slovenia, created this half-Chard half-Riesling vino, promising to take wine lovers on an extraordinary trip. The Starman wine label is designed with a lighting bolt, paying homage to the late rocker’s alter ego Ziggy Stardust and his eponymous song. And the grapes were handpicked under the morning stars, ensuring the journey to the bottom of this out-of-this-world, natural orange wine (which is unaltered and unfiltered) will be anything but boring.

Natural, Organic, Biodynamic, Vegan

Zesty stone fruit and herbal tea- natural riesling and chardonnay with skin contact.

2021 Pullus Pinot Noir Stajerska, Slovenia $17.99

This Pullus Pinot Noir is of a ruby color and it delights with a pronounced fruity/earthy bouquet which reminds of strawberry marmalade and dried cranberry, complemented with a lovely velvety medium finish and enhanced by the sophisticated aromas of dark chocolate. North-east Slovenia has the IDEAL climate for Pinot Noir.

The winery is located in Ptuj, Slovenia's oldest town, which has been continuously inhabited for nearly two millennia. Their "Pullus" Pinot Noir is not only an insane value but also textbook old world Pinot Noir through-and-through. Notes of black damson plum, dried cherry, rosewater, and warm tilled earth fill the nose. Its vinification in stainless steel and used barrique uphold the Pinot purity, with velvety tannins, great fruit texture and lip-smacking tart acidity.

NV Heap's Good Red NV, Slovenia  $18.99

Heaps Good Wine Company is a small family owned and operated winery producing exceptional wines from Pinot gris, Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Blaufrankisch from the green hills around Slovenska Bistrica in the region of Stajerska in the east of Slovenia. Heaps Good Wine Co was founded by Marija and Nick Gee in 2010 and currently produces around 900 cases of top quality wines each year.

Varietals: Pinot Noir, Blaufrankisch, Zweigelt, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Wurzer, Syrah, Yellow Muscat

Vinification: Hand-picked. Zweigelt co-fermented with Yellow Muscat. All other varieties made separately. Wurzer fermented on the skins. Wines aged 12 months in older French oak and then in concrete. Many vintages blended together. No filtration. Contains sediment.

Tasting Notes: Ruby color. Aromas of spicy red fruits, white pepper, a touch of oak and a rustic quality. Ripe aromatic plums and darker fruits with cassis flavors and well balanced acidity. A silky mid-palate structure opens to pleasing spice, with soft velvety tannins and a tart finish.
