2021 Zeit Pet Nat, Austria $25.99
Personality: lush aromatics of the Muskateller supported by the acidic backbone of the Riesling and vivacious fizz – a highly drinkable combination.
Grapes: 50% Gelber Muskateller, 50% Riesling
Zeit (“Time” in German) is a new exciting addition to Jenny&Francois’ labels, providing wines made exclusively for us that are kind to both nature and your budget. Karl Fritsch, the winemaker behind these succulent Zweigelt Rosé and Gruner Veltliner wines, brings an especially terrific value to the table and has been fully dedicated to biodynamics since 2006.
Making of: the grapes are hand-harvested and macerated on skins for 5 hours, then pressed and spontaneously fermented in tanks. While the fermentation is still going, the wine is bottled under crown caps to finish as pet-nat. Released after 5 months on its fine lees, without fining or filtration, no sulfur added.
The winery is a founding member of Respekt Biodyn, an association of leading Austrian and German growers who share the biodynamic cultivation philosophy
2021 Haute Lavigne White, Côtes de Duras, France $19.99
As our fascination with natural wines continues to develop, we have become simply enamored with this gem from France. Just on the outskirts of Bordeaux we find Nadia Lusseau, a female winemaker organically farming since 2005 and producing some truly amazing wines!
Here in her white blend of 66% Sauvignon Blanc and 34% Semillon you will find an elegant yet vibrant wine that is simply lovely from start to finish. Gentle notes of apricot, white flowers and beeswax waft from a gingerly swirled glass. As you delve into the palate white peach and nectarine notes are balanced seamlessly with an herbaceous minerality that lingers through the finish!
2021 Patience White, Costieres de Nimes, France $17.99
A lively white blend from the south of France made from Grenache Blanc, Chardonnay and Vermentino. This family estate located in the Costières de Nîmes takes its name from a wild, aromatic herb called “La Patience” that can be found throughout the vineyard.
2019 Milan Nestarec Forks & Knives White, Czech Republic $34.99
We're thrilled by the multitude of natural wines coming out of the Czech Republic. Natural winemaker, Milan Nestarec, has made this fun, delicious white from a blend of local grapes. This an orange wine, it's color coming from extended skin contact. Bone dry, with notes of cider, meyer lemon, bay leaves and a hint of green olive. Be aware this may have a slight fizz when first opened. The wine is bottled without fining or filtering and zero sulfur is added.
2022 Domaine Rimbert Le Petit Cochon Bronze Rose, Languedoc-Roussillon, France $19.99
Grape: Cinsault/Syrah
This rose is vibrant pink in the glass. Deep scents of ultra-ripe crushed red cherries, a note of guava paste, overripe and a pretty, yet smoky note of sweet herbs. Blood Orange infused red berry flavors dominate the palate and are set-off by the wine's generous minerality.
2019 Milan Nestarec Forks & Knives Red, Czech Republic $34.99
This endlessly drinkable Pinot Noir has us swooning. Made without added sulphur, this is wine all about pure, bright red fruit flavors. Drink lightly chilled anytime, anywhere. Natural winemaker, Milan Nestarec, is a force in a new era of winemaking and we are consistently impressed with the eccentric wines he turns out.
2019 Suriol Mataro, Catalonia, Spain $24.99
100% Mataro aka Monastrell from younger biodynamic vines, hand harvested and wild fermented, then aged in old chestnut barrels for 6 months and bottled unfiltered with no sulfur added. Spiced dark plum and blackberry fruit with with earthy leather notes and wet soil. Great with any meat coming off of the grill.
