2023 Stolpman Vin Gris, Santa Barbara, California $27.99
Trousseau & Gamay
First, the vibrant light red hue of the wine just looks delicious. It’s tough
not to snap a photo of the bottle with a sunny backdrop every time we
see the bottle. Inviting watermelon, ripe strawberry, and lush fruit punch
lined with firm, energetic, red berry. Unfiltered thick girth and scrumptious textures marry a taut, refreshing zippiness. Think of it as rosé with
a bursting personality and a deep soul

2022 Stolpman Love You Bunches Orange, Santa Barbara, California $25.99
Over the past decade, we’ve fallen deeply in love with whole-grape, low-extraction carbonic fermentation as a way of delivering delicious, fresh expressions of our intense Santa Barbara County red grapes.  In 2020, we decided to experiment with the technique on white grapes to make an orange wine.

In our third edition of Love You Bunches Orange, we’ve further refined our varietal blend to deliver the most delicious Orange yet.  Pinot Gris for depth and color co-fermented with tropical Orange Muscat.  In 2022 we are thrilled to add the traditional orange wine grape, Tocai Fruilano for more texture and brightness.  Gewurztraminer adds further color and more exotic tropical notes.

SENSORY
Vacation in a bottle! Lychee, orange blossom, Thai basil, Apricot, and Grapefruit.  The wine keeps going with layer on layer of waves washing over the palate bringing with them touches of tangerine, tarragon, and firm crunchy peach.  As I type these notes on the North Shore of Oahu, my mind takes me to an adult version of yummy POG juice, a joy that 5 year old Auggie and 3 year old Otto tried for the first time this trip! I reckon smelling and tasting the 2022 Love You Bunches Orange will forever take me back here to the Islands!

2022 Stolpman Love You Bunches Red, Santa Barbara, California $25.99
We began producing Carbonic Sangiovese in 2013 in an effort to make a fresh, lighter version of Sangiovese.  Sangiovese as a grape, is both highly tannic and high in acid – a one-two combination that often creates a rough, rustic profile when drunk young. Before we experimented with carbonic fermentation, we intentionally picked Sangiovese on the ripe side to allow for tannin and acid to soften.  Then, we aged the wine in barrel for 30 months and another 6 months in bottle to allow acid and tannin to integrate with the wine’s mid-palate flesh.

Carbonic Fermentation doesn’t extract the Sangiovese’s tannin because the grapes ferment whole, uncrushed in a sealed tank.  Because we aren’t worried about overly dry tannin; we can pick earlier, at lower sugar and rely on high, refreshing acidity for finishing balance in the absence of tannin.  Because we don’t need to wait for integration, we bottle the wine within a few months of harvest, locking in the fresh profile.

SENSORY
Bright red raspberry, red currant, rhubarb, and violet.  Refreshing to the max but bone dry with just a kiss of fine tannin. Just enough of a riper profile behind the bright “ray of sunshine” energetic cut.  Candied cherries and red jolly ranchers bring home the deliciousness quotient.  A floaty, foamy layer bordering on frothed cappuccino milk marries to the zip and tang.  Serve cold!

2023 Stolpman So Fresh GGT, Santa Barbara, California $32.99
n its second year of production, GGT is one of the newest additions to the So Fresh family.  All So Fresh wines ferment whole grape (in a sealed tank without oxygen, AKA carbonic fermentation), without extracting tannin and further texture from crushed grapes’ macerated skin, seed and pulp.  The resulting wines show a lighter hue of red, and with far less tannin on the finish, are delicious served chilled.

We aim to combine the straight forward red berry juice of carbonic Grenache, with the crunchiness of Gamay, and just a touch of savory Trousseau.
Sensory
Firm, crunchy strawberry and tart cherry with a riper layer etched just underneath hinting at purple hues under the red.  In the mouth, the red fruit bursts open into a cautiously generous mouthfeel and a dark stony river rock character that winds back into red hard candy.  Opening up, touches of spice and blueberry slowly peak out.  Fine, but assertive tannin, lends a seriousness that rides alongside the pervasive red fruit through the sunset.

2022 Stolpman So Fresh Crunchie Roastie Rainbow, Santa Barbara, California $27.99
We borrowed the Cote Rotie (Roasted Slope) trick of co-fermenting a dollop of earlier ripening Viognier for floral aromatics and more weight bonded with the bright mid-palate fruit.

Crunchy Roastie has become a seriously delicious Featherweight version relative to Stolpman’s classic Middleweight and Heavyweight macerated Syrah cuvees.  By taking such a delicate touch to the intensity of Santa Barbara County, we can deliver a Syrah in the same weight class as our favorite Northern Rhone wineries.

SENSORY
In the glass, black with glimmering red sparks.  On the nose, a swirling fruit punch vortex with layered olive and black fruit in every twist and turn.  In the mouth, a marriage of pop and depth like your favorite “guilty pleasure” album.   The captivating line of Sangre Citrus Stone energy carries the day with a deeper ripe plum flesh and juiciness within.   This benchmark edition of Crunchy Roastie mounts the podium with both gold and silver – flaunting both freshness and depth in a perfect one-two punch.

2022 Stolpman So Fresh GDG Gamay, Santa Barbara, California $32.99
When Tom Stolpman arrived at Villa Angeli one Friday afternoon in February of 2016 he noticed some re-plantings across the L’Avion runway in Block 6.  He asked Pete what he and Ruben had planted.

Pete: “Oh, that’s the new Gamay!”
Tom: “You Planted GOD D#MN GAMAY?”
Pete: “Well, at least we have a name for the wine now!”

SENSORY
God D#mn! A booming red to black fruit continuum knock out.  Red currant to red vines down to firm boysenberry.  The opaque crimson-lined black color foreshadows a coating density that plays gracefully with GDG’s signature crunch.  Whole cluster notes of dried herbs and bramble encircle the giving, generous heart.  The GDG possesses a Holy Trinity of depth, crunch, and beauty.
