2022 Azienda Agricola Cirelli Vino Da Tavola Bianco, Abruzzo, Italy $21.99
In the picturesque region of Abruzzo, Italy, nestled between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea, winemaking traditions run deep. With 23 hectares, all of their production is designed to respect the natural cycles of the olive trees, vineyards, horticultural crops and the animal breeding. Crop rotation, natural fertilization, and free range animal grazing are Agricola Cirelli’s “techniques” of production.
Grape: Pecorino, Trebbiano
A crisp and dry natural white wine with stone fruit flavors, floral notes, citrus aroma, and a fresh finish!
2023 Meinklang Burgenland White, Burgenland, Austria $24.99
This is a blend of Gruner Veltliner, Welschriesling and Muscat fermented and aged on the lees in stainless steel for 4 months before getting bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur added. Zippy, fresh and aromatic with beautiful texture and notes of crushed flowers, apricot and grapefruit zest. Elevated patio pounder that keeps you coming back for more.
2021 Kristinus Borbirtok Oliver Balatonboglar White, Hungary $24.99
Absolute price-performance hammer - with insane ssss drinking flow and "bang the bottle is empty". That's why we've already given our tip: one bottle isn't enough. As we did last year Kristinus. visited, we already enjoyed Oliver to the fullest from the unlabeled bottle. We came up with our own name for this super tasty cuvée. He will always be "The Empty Bottle" for us. Why this name? You'll find that out for yourself very quickly.
In this incredibly well-rounded cuvée from Hungary, 2 grape varieties are combined that simply go well together. 80 % Isai Oliver meets 20 % Furmint – BAAAAAMMMM!
Oliver / The Empty Bottle 2021
The fun begins with an exotic nose - a fruit basket of scents fills the glass. After this olfactory experience, curiosity about the first sip is definitely aroused. From the very first lip contact with the glass. It quickly becomes clear that the smell has found its counterpart. Due to the fine tannins of the mash fermentation, the mega fruity nose is only reflected in the taste with a subtle fruity note. ”Which is exactly right!!”
Minerality, light bitter notes, salted almonds, pecan nuts, lime and a slight intensity combine here to create a complex, light orange wine with endless drinking flow.
2022 Azienda Agricola Cirelli Vino Da Tavola Rosso, Abrusso, Italy $21.99
An old faithful for us in terms of organically-farmed, delicious central Italian red from La Collina Biologica winemaker Francesco Cirelli. Not too heavy, not too ripe, and not oaky, this isn't '80s or '90s-styled fiasco-type wine. Perfect, easy stuff for spaghetti and ziti and meatball subs, great selection for a solid everyday table wine.
NV Domini Del Leone Veneto Rosso, Veneto, Italy $19.99
The Domini del Leone Veneto Rosso is a non-vintage blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Raboso and Corvina grown on soils of limestone and caranto (compact clay-loam). All grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in a mix of stainless steel and 25 hecto-liter French oak barrels. Medium-ruby color with garnet highlights and aromas of cherries, plums, gingerbread and pine. The palate is vibrant with fine-grained tannins and a persistent acidity that frame the juicy fruit flavors as they flow into a refreshing finish. A perfect table red to enjoy with simple pastas and meat dishes.
2022 Son By Matteo Furlani Rosso Frizzante, Alto Adige, Italy $32.99
Furlani Mae Son Rosso Frizzante is a red wine made from old indigenous varietals, including Pavana, Rosara, Negrara, and Turca. The grapes are harvested by hand when they achieve ideal ripeness, typically in late September. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in open stainless steel vats, with 20 days of skin contact. The freshly fermented wine is then aged on the lees in steel vats before aging in barrels for six months. It is then racked and undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, where it rests for four months.
