Contrary to popular belief, orange wines are not actually produced from oranges, but rather from white wine grapes that see extended amounts of skin contact.

2021 Muga Rioja Bianco, Rioja, Spain $19.99 (Limited!!)
Viura, Garnacha blanca and Malvasía de Rioja.  After light maceration of the must with the skins in the press, this ferments in different sized wooden vats and new French-oak casks with very lightly toasted wood sourced from the Nevers region.
This wine has a lovely straw-yellow colour. It is intense and complex on the nose with floral aromas (white blossom, jasmine), stone (peaches) and citrus (grapefruit, lemon) fruit, pears, apples and banana. Very fine and elegant.

2021 Los Arraez Verdil, Valencia, Spain $21.99
The aroma of the wine is fresh, generous, captivating with a bouquet of fruity notes, touches of citrus, hints of orange blossom and lilac. The wine has an expressive fruity taste with delicate herbal notes. The accord is based on citrus notes and light floral undertones. The aftertaste is fresh, delicate, with fruity sourness.
"Los Arraez", Verdil - dry white wine from the Spanish region of Valencia, unique due to its varietal composition. The fact is that the Verdil variety, from which wine is made, practically disappears from the arsenal of modern winemakers. "A local, almost endangered and almost forgotten variety" - this is how the Bodegas Arraez team presents it. However, gives him his due, trying to introduce him to the consumer. The vines from which the grapes are harvested have reached their thirty-year mark.

2019 Colliano Macerato, Goriska Brda, Slovenia $15.99
Colliano is a white wine with maceration aka “skin contact” to create an orange wine made from 40% Ribolla Gialla (Rebula), 30% Malvasia and 30% Sauvignonasse (Friulano) Each variety contributes to the balance in the nose and mouth and all together they represent the terroir of Goriška Brda.

Fermented with skins, this orange wine features baked pear, with citrus and thyme with almonds on the finish. A great intro to orange wines.

2021 Field Recordings "Skins" Orange, Central Coast, California $18.99
41% Chenin Blanc, 37% Pinot Gris, 9% Albarino, 8% Verdlho, 5% Riesling
Tasting Notes of apricot, haitian orange, persimmon, marzipan and peach.
Sustainable farming practices, native yeast fermentation, no additives, minimal sulfur, unfined and unfiltered, and vegan-friendly!

2021 Cos "Rami" White, Sicily, Italy $27.99
50-50 blend of Inzolia and Grecanico.  The vines are only a fledgling 12 years old however the astute viticulture underpinning this operation from the get go has seen the fruit develop impressive complexity from a young base.  The fruit spent a week on skins whilst in a concrete vessel before being aged in bottle for a period before release.  It's a refreshing yet tactile wine of immense personality.  What a delicious and intoxicating thing this is to drink.

Founded in 1980, by Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti, and Cirino Strano, COS (an acronym formed from their surname initials) is considered one of the benchmark producers of the Vittoria appellation in Sicily.

2020 Weingut  Schlossmuhlenhof  "Das ist Kein" Orange, Rheinhessen, Germany $22.99
An intense and exciting combination of Müller Thurgau and Sylvaner from 25-year-old vines. Aged in stainless steel for 7 months on its lees. Pale straw in color with flavors that are acidic, zesty, and energetic! Fun fact: Das Ist Kein Orange means: In no way is this an Orange Wine!

Tasting Notes: Fruit-forward with guava, lemon, and grapefruit. Extremely drinkable!
(SulfurMinimal, Organic )

2021 Gonc "Grape Abduction Company" Orange, Stajerska, Slovenia $18.99
Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Farming method: Organic
Producer: Grape Abduction is a wine from Gönc winery. Peter Gönc is a 4th generation winemaker. Gönc winery was established in 1936 when Peter Gönc’s great grandfather built their first wine cellar and planted the vineyard in the small town of Dobrovnik in Slovenia. The name of the winery, Gönc, is the last name of the family and also a name for a Hungarian oak barrel, which contains 136 liters.

A light amber color with an aromatically rich nose of ripe golden apple, quince, sweet brown spice, and hints of honey. On the palate, the wine is round with flavors from the nose and a good minerality. The finish is smooth and lingering with highlighted notes of sweet brown spices.

"Raúl Pérez Pereira is universally considered to be one of the world’s most visionary winemakers. Since he produced his first vintage for his family’s winery in 1994 at the age 22, he has been in the forefront of the conversation about what has been called “The New Spain”." - Skurnik

2020 Atalier by Raul Perez "A Cruz das Animas" Albarino, Rias Biaxas, Spain $31.99

It leaps out of the glass with aromas of oyster shell and granite, and follows through with a palate rich in yellow and green fruits with a powerful surge of acidity.

Critical Acclaim

D94Decanter Exporting his talent further to the west of his homeland in Bierzo, Raúl Pérez’s take on Rías Baixas Albariño is electrifying, with a turbo-charge of bracing salty-citrus acidity leavened by the depth of mouthfilling yellow plum. Galician Chablis.

RP94Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2020 Atalier comes from the A Cruz das Ánimas vineyard in Dena, in the town center. It matured in 5,000-liter oak foudres, where the wine matured for seven months. It has the spark and liveliness of 2020, a transparent, pure and defined Albariño with good acidity and a salty, very tasty finish. This transcends its price point.

WS91Wine Spectator

A salty white, creamy and fresh, with a finely woven mix of Asian pear, preserved lemon, oyster shell and light herbs. Long and minerally on the well-cut finish.

2020 Bodegas y Vinedos Raul Perez Bierzo Bianco, Galicia, Spain $28.99

The Godello is from three sites in the village of Valtuille de Abajo, though 90% of the fruit in this vintage actually comes from one north-facing site. The ultimate focus here is on preserving acidity, as Godello can get blowsy and even a little sloppy if overripened. So this is picked on the knife edge of ripeness, and as such the resulting wine only reaches about 11.8% alcohol. The wine ferments and ages in a combination of 2500-liter foudres and old 300-liter barrels.

2020 Bodegas y Vinedos Raul Perez "Ultreia St Jacques" Bierzo Tinto, Galicia, Spain $22

Mostly Mencía with Bastardo (Trousseau), Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet)

Elaboration: 80% whole cluster fermentation in large oak vats. Macerations of between two and five months. Aging in various vessels: 225L, 500L, foudre and cement. Bottled without fining or filtration.

2020 Bodegas y Vinedos Raul Perez "Encinas" Bierzo Tinto, Galicia, Spain $35.99

Antoine Graillot, son of the star of Crozes Hermitage: Alain Graillot, has recently launched a project with one of the greatest Spanish viticulturists: Raúl Pérez. This vintage presents a bright body that reveals a very seductive deep cherry tone. The nose is impressive. We find notes similar to Cabernet Franc when it is reduced (to air for at least 1 hour before tasting) wrapped in a box of sweet spices, black fruits and very airy florals. Such aromatic purity is rare for a 100% Mencía and it is here that Antoine and Raúl clearly differ. On the palate, the pulp is dense and juicy. The palate is fine and offers spicy and cherry flavors to finish with an impressive mineral persistence.

2020 Bodegas Riojanes Pregon Verdeho, Rueda, Spain $10.99

This light yellow wine has a bouquet of white peach and grapefruit. It is bright on impact, with flavors of lemon-lime, nectarine and guava and a lemon curd finish. MIKE DESIMONE

2020 Bodegas Riojanes "Canchales" Joven, Rioja, Spain $10.99

Cherry-red with violet hues, brilliant. Fragant primary aromas. Fresh, fruity, varietal. Smooth and balanced in the mouth. Slight tannins. Wide, long retronasal sensations with elegant fruity notes.

2020 Bodegas Riojanes "VIna Albina" Crianza, Rioja, Spain $19.99

Luscious red fruit, pot pourri and spice with a dart of acidity, a cushion of billowing tannin and a linear finish.15% Carignan / Mazuelo, 5% Graciano, 80% Tempranillo / Tinto Fino
