Marie-Courtin "Efflorescence" Extra Brut Pinot Noir Champagne, France (Because it's Allaina's Birthday!)
Marie Courtin Efflorescence Extra Brut is a sparkling wine with pure and clean aromas of red fruit, notes of brioche and a touch of chalk. On the palate it is elegant, austere and balanced. A sparkling wine with integrated bubbles, fruit flavors and a mineral salty finish.
The Marie Courtin winery was founded by Dominique Moreau in 2005 and named after her grandmother. It is located in the village of Polisot in the Côte des Bars, in the southern part of the Champagne region. This winery has small, biodynamically cultivated plots, focusing on low yields, the Kimmeridgian soils and no-dosage bottling to produce pure and very mineral champagnes.
2021 Kir-Yianni Akakies Sprakling Rose, Greece $25.99
A refreshing sparkling wine highlighting the varietal character of indigenous Xinomavro grape variety. An intense mousse and a bright cherry color, pronounced aromas of ripe strawberry and cherry and an elegant acidity adding freshness while pairing harmoniously with the discrete presence of sugars create a wine that is at the same time dynamic and balanced.
2022 Vrac Rose Vin de Pays, France $16.99
vrac translates to bring your own bottle.
This classic Provencal blend of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault is a no-brainer when it comes to summer rosé sipping.
2022 Fontsainte Gris de Gris Rose, Corbieres, France $17.99 Magnum $37.99
A crystalline salmon color with superb amethyst tints. Expressive and particularly tonic, the wine immediately gives off notes of raspberry, cherry and freshly picked strawberries - followed by exotic aromas such as pineapple and mango. A direct and considerable freshness - the density and richness of the fruit mingle with the superb acid vitality giving a wine with a frisson and a magnificent persistency. Stunningly balanced, this is an extremely appetent wine!
The first vineyards at Domaine de Fontsainte were planted by the Romans. The original domaine was built around a thermal spring, which was later named for the local, 12th-century patron saint, Saint Siméon; hence Fontsainte—the saint’s fount.
This wine is a blend of 90% Grenache Gris, 5% Carignan, & 5% Mourvèdre
2022 Lucien Reymond Sancerre Rose, Loire valley, France $25.99
Citrus and stone fruit aromas. Flavors of grapefruit, peach, melon and honeysuckle. Herb tinged, stony minerality. Layered and complex, with lush texture, crisp, bright acidity and incredible freshness. Long, silky finish.
The fruit is sourced from a Biodyvin-certified grower with holdings across the region that take full advantage of the three signature soil compositions in Sancerre, including the chalky Kimmeridgian limestone, stony limestone marl (caillotes), and flint-flecked clay (silex). Aged sur-lie in tanks for 12 months before bottling.
2022 Jean Marie Reverdy Sancerre Rose, Loire Valley, France $25.99
Fresh, pretty nose with delicate aromas of ripe red fruits such as strawberry, cherry and redcurrant with slight bakery, floral and distant spice notes.
A lovely balance between freshness and roundness, gently fruity and clean, there is more flavour and depth than one would expect from the colour.
VITICULTURE
80% grown on limestone terroir locally referred to as «Caillotes», the vines selected for our rosé are around twenty years of age. Enjoying an easterly exposure, ripening is slow and gradual. Sustainable viticulture has been in use here for over twenty years. The Pinot Noir grapes are usually harvested early to retain the freshness and acidity essential for a good rosé.
2022 Domaine De Pallus Chinon Rose, Loire Valley, France $18.99
Winemaker Bertrand Sourdais aims to create a new paradigm for Loire Valley Cabernet Franc–while at the same time honoring its soils and ancient traditions.
Salmon pink; Full palate with fresh strawberry and citrus notes. Direct press, 3 months in stainless steel. Winemaker Bertrand's "Messanges"(an old Loire Valley name for Cabernet Franc) line is his younger, fresher expression of his vineyards. Vinified for immediate accessibility, they are the perfect introduction to the Pallus style.
Biodynamic. Unoaked.
