2020 Chateau L`Oiseliniere De La Ramee Muscadet (Chereau), Loire Valley, France $16.99
Château de l’Oiselinière is a 10ha vineyard that has belonged to the family since 1960. The vines here are planted on a sunny, south-facing orthogneiss dome, near the village of Vertou, directly on the confluence of the Sèvre and Maine rivers. The vineyard is in a very idyllic setting within a natural clos, protected on one side by the surrounding woods and on the other sides by the river (which also moderates temperatures for even ripening). One would struggle to find a more natural and biologically diverse vineyard in the region. Here, they produce two wines from schist and orthogneiss soils: Château l’Oiselinière de la Ramée from eight hectares of 40-year-old vines and Le Clos du Château l’Oiselinière, from two hectares of 80-year-old vines at the top of the dome.
All the melon de bourgogne vines are picked by hand. After fermentation with selected indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged for six months sur lie in underground concrete vats with regular bâtonnage, followed by 12 months aging in bottle before release.
2020 Alpert Bichot Aligote, Burgundy, France $16.99
Aligoté is Burgundy’s great insider secret, and the 2020 Albert Bichot is as classic an example of the grape as you can find. Usually snatched up by thirsty locals and Parisian bistros before importers can even get a taste, we scored an allocation of this rare bottle—and it’s an under-$20 steal.
With three Winemaker of the Year titles under their belt, Albert Bichot is a Burgundy stalwart that Decanter called “one of the region’s most dynamic, quality-focused” domaines. That’s seriously impressive praise, considering Burgundy’s host of internationally renowned estates. Bichot has owned land in Burgundy since the 14th century, and over the years they’ve built one of the most enviable collections of vineyards in the region, allowing them to tap into top terroirs.
2021 Clos Cibonne Rose Tradition, Cotes De Provence, France $39.99
Clos Cibonne has been making a rosé since 1797 in a unique and somewhat unusual style - aged under flor, similar to Sherry. This is weightier and more serious than most rosés, approaching a red wine in style while maintaining the freshness and vibrancy of a rosé. Deep red fruit aromas of redcurrants, strawberries, and red cherries, together with rose petals, potpourri, and a lightly tannic texture followed by a lasting finish.
2021 Domaine Du Petit Bonhomme "Carrousel", Luberon, France $32.99
100% Grenache Noir planted in the early 2000s, harvested at optimum maturity. Grapes crushed, destemmed and macerated in infusion for 15 days. Aged in stainless steel vats. Total favorite for this super gourmet wine with a well-balanced extraction, neither too light nor too concentrated, where the tannins are fine, the mouth is crunchy, silky and airy. Beautiful floral aromatic, empyreumatic, red fruits +++ (cherry) and garrigue. Very nice nose after aeration of Espelette pepper and saffron. Everything is done entirely by hand and by horse from the vine to the labeling! Unfiltered , unfined and only 1.5gr of sulphites per bottling!
2021 Ugo Lestelle Cuvee L (Grenache), Lanquedoc, France $40.99
Magnificent Grenache vineyard from old vines located in the middle of an expanse of scrubland. With this heritage Ugo Lestelle elaborates his cuvée L. The grapes come hand picked and pressed to whole bunch, carbonic vinification in cement for 2 weeks, vertical pressing 10 hours, followed by aging in barrique
Burgundian for 6 months. Small percentage of sulfur (2gr / hl) at bottling.
2021 Chapuis Freres Chorey-Les-Beaune Rouge, Burgundy, France $53.99
Two brothers from a winemaking family of Aloxe Corton passionate about gastronomy, wine and terroir decide to combine their skills to offer the wines they have dreamed of for a long time. They founded the Chapuis Frères house in the heart of the village of Pommard in 2009.
