2016 JCB NO. 44 Premier Cru Champagne, France $74.99______
56% Chardonnay and 44% Pinot Noir
Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and The Marne Valley. Aged in stainless steel.
A deep, golden yellow color in the bottle with a fine, sparkling perlage. A truly smooth and well-balanced Champagne, the nose is fresh and warm that reveals aromas of white fruits followed with subtle citrus notes. Silky texture with a lively edge, this wine shows its maturity with notes of brioche but plenty of intense freshness leaving a crisp, long-lasting finish.
WHAT THE NUMBER 44 SIGNIFIES: Prior to 1844 and the discovery of the wire cage used to keep the cork in place, Champagne was seen as the work of the devil himself -- nicknamed le vin du diable, or “the devil’s wine.”.
NV JCB NO. 21 Cremant De Bourgogne, Burgundy, France $26.99
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Traditional Method with a minimum ageing of 15 months.
For Jean-Charles Boisset, sparkling wine is not a special occasion beverage. It is a RADIANT moment in your otherwise typical day. While effortless to enjoy, our N°21 Brut is nonetheless a bit MYSTERIOUS. Crisp and bracing, it also has the tiniest bit of LUMINOUS creaminess.
TASTING NOTES: The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay combine to produce a fresh, fruity nose with almond and white flower aromas. Full and generous in the mouth, N°21 epitomizes a lovely harmony between freshness and fruit.
WHAT THE NUMBER 21 SIGNIFIES: JeanCharles’ philosophy of wine has been profoundly shaped by the wine region where he was born and raised: Burgundy’s famous Côte d’Or, which translates to the Gold Coast. N°21 honors this connection and heritage, for 21 is the French government’s “Department” number for the Côte d’Or.
