2019 Chateau Mont-Redon Chateauneuf-Du-Papes, Rhone Valley, France $65.99
James Suckling 95
Enchanting and complex nose of red fruit, tobacco leaf, licorice and delicate spices. Super-sensual palate thats rich and refined, with so many nuances that you could spend hours studying it. Stunning interplay of ripe fruit with raw-meat and smoked-bacon character. Very long, silky finish that makes it hard not to take another gulp. Sustainable. Drink or hold.
Chateau Mont-Redon has been in the Abeille and Fabre families for four generations, with its vineyard omnipresent for centuries. The first vines found at Mont-Redon date back to Roman times, 2,000 years ago. They were planted at the bottom of the hill that gave its name to the Mont-Redon property.
2021 Pascal Jolivet "Attitude" Sauvignon Blanc, Loire Valley, France $23.99
"Attitude" is a reflection led by Pascal Jolivet since 2001. The idea being to produce a very high quality wine outside of Sancerrois while remaining in the Loire, the best terroir in the world for the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. His passion for this grape variety led him to a region rich in history and heritage, near the magnificent Châteaux of Cheverny and Chambord.
“Attitude” has a nice freshness on the palate, a frank attack, delicate aromas of lime, citrus fruits, green apple and kiwi. The minerality gives the wine a long finish, finesse and elegance. Very pleasant wines on their own or accompanied by seafood, asparagus, grilled fish and goat cheese.
2021 Stephane Aviron Chenas Vieilles Vignes, Beaujolais, France $23.99
Dark black cherry color with purple. Deep, ripe aromas of black cherry with a hint of black pepper. Very good weight; fleshy and round, very soft and harmonious.
This Chenas was made from truly old vines, some over one hundred years old, using old school, classic Beaujolais techniques. Organic.
2021 Stephane Aviron Cote de Brouilly Vieilles Vignes, Beaujolais, France $23.99
Côte de Brouilly is medium to full-bodied wine, with elegance and finesse. On the nose and palate there are wild strawberry and raspberry notes, with hints of darker berries and a touch of spice. The wine has very good concentration with a good acidity and firm tannins.
2021 Stephane Aviron Julienas Vieilles Vignes, Beaujolais, France $25.99
This wine has complex herbal, red cherry and wild strawberry aromas. The flavors are ripe but firm, the wine has a packed character that speaks of firm but soft tannins that will help the wine age well.
2021 Stephane Aviron Morgon Codt u Py Vieilles Vignes, Beaujolais, France $30.99
Old vines, fermented traditionally (no carbonic) and aged in a bunch of old wood. It's pure, energetic and unbelievably slippery.
Lifted black and red cherry fruit, dark raspberry, mixed ground spice and a pretty lilt to the nose. It at first seems like a combo of the Brouilly and Villages with a lovely mix of dark and light. The palate is snappy and fresh, etched with fine-boned tannin a wonderful and incisive mineral spike. Lots of energy here and a nice burst of mineral fruit at the end that carries the palate along. Great looking Morgon with a fresh, mineral-driven edge.
Fermented in stainless steel vats for 12-15 days and then aged for 12 months in a combination of new and used oak casks. Each parcel is vinified separately and a final blend is produced before bottling.
