NV Henri Maire Cremant du Jura Brut Jurassique, France $25.99
Jura is nestled between Burgundy and Switzerland, and Domaine Henri Maire dates back to a staggering 1632. Today, it is owned by the legendary Boisset family (of Burgundy, Sonoma and Napa Valley, but really spanning the globe). We are talking about Chardonnay and Pinot Noir expertly blended, and made in the traditional manner of Champagne. 12 months of lees aging, and a few more in bottle after a modest 10 g/l dosage, which really makes this sing.
Built from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown exclusively on the ancient Jurassic soils dating back more than 200 million years. It’s a beautiful golden golden hue with vigorous and creamy bubbles that have a nice clean and fruity attack. Golden Delicious apple, D'Anjou pear and citrus pith and Galaktoboureko (Greek Phyllo dough dessert) aromas meet similar flavors with a wonderful texture and superb length for this price range. It is a fruit-driven and crowd-pleasing style for almost any occasion... This just CRUSHES!
