2021 I Pastini Valle D`Itria Spumante Brut, Italy $25.99
Founded by Gianni Carparelli and his father Donato, I Pastini grow their grapes on land their ancestors worked: a beautiful limestone plateau overlooking the Adriatic Sea that is co-planted to ancient, (multi-millennia old), olive groves. They are certified organic and use native yeasts in the cellars.

This bubbly is made from the Verdeca grape- an aromatic variety native to the Valle d'Itria in Puglia. The wine making is similar to that of Prosecco- vinified in stainless steel and made bubbly via the charmat method (autoclave).

Light, crisp, and citrusy, with a playful bead that keeps the palate cleansed and refreshed. Verdeca’s aromas of herbs, flowers, and a bitter almond finish make it a great food pairing wine. Try with all kinds of Crudo (including sashimi) and Patio Sipping.

2020 Fattoria Moretto Pignoletto Dell`emilia Frizzante, Emilia Romagno, Italy $24.99
This frizzante white isn’t widely known outside of its native Emilia-Romagna, probably because the locals are drinking it all up. It’s tart and juicy like a fresh mandarin, with invigorating acidity ideally suited to cut through the region’s signature Parmigiano-Reggiano and prosciutto di Parma. That’s probably not a coincidence.

2023 Salvard Cheverny Rose, Loire Valley, France $22.99
An exquisitely balanced rose – like spring in a glass. A must for rosé lovers, it’s both simple and complex at the same time. Salvard has walked that fine line of keeping fruit and acidity completely in check. Delectable.

Domaine du Salvard has been a working domaine since 1898, through five generations of the Delaille family. Today the vineyards are farmed by the brother team of Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille, with help from their father Gilbert.

Until finally achieving A.O.C. status in 1993, Cheverny was widely regarded as one of the best V.D.Q.S. (Vin de Qualité Superieur) of the Loire. 65% Pinot Noir & 35% Gamay.

2023 Chanrion Vin De France Blanc `perle De Gamay`, Beaujolais, France $26.99
Nicole Chanrion’s son Romain recently joined her full time and this new cuvée is his brainchild. Made from Gamay, using direct press, this white wine has no—or very few—peers in Beaujolais. Open this bottle, bearing notes of stones, pear, and citrus, as a refreshing, mineral apéritif or alongside your favorite fresh seafood. You will be amazed that the same grapes can result in both this and Chanrion’s outstanding red Côte-de-Brouilly.

222 Foillard Beaujolais-Villages, Beaujolais, France $32.99
For this over-delivering Beaujolais-Villages, Jean sources organic grapes from excellent parcels around his village of Villié-Morgon as well as Lancié, Saint-Amour, and Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne, and ages the wine through an extended élevage more akin to that of his renowned Morgons than to other regional bottlings. Accordingly, the wine evolves slowly, becoming more poised and complete. Evoking pomegranate, rhubarb, and black tea, the result is a beautiful initiation to Jean’s house style, distinguished by a mesmerizing tension between depth, density, silkiness, and elegance.

2021 Joguet Chinon `Cuvee Terroir`, Loire Valley, France $27.99
The Cuvée Terroir is one of the great everyday reds in our portfolio, right up there with Dupeuble’s Beaujolais, Fontsainte’s Corbières, and our Côtes du Rhône. Here, the Terroir’s Cabernet Franc telltale combination of tart red fruit, herbaceousness, and graphite earthiness makes this wine the perfect accompaniment for just about any meal, and the more casual the better.
As a testament to the quality and consistency of this wine, here’s Kermit’s endorsement from 20 years ago about the 2000 vintage:
What a rich, explosive bouquet! Can you dig it? Did Joguet throw some strawberries into the fermentation vat? And never fear, the palate sustains the incredible level of quality. It is delicious, an absolutely gorgeous, multi-dimensional wine.
Joguet has delivered a wonderful bunch of wines over the years, but never such pure drinking pleasure. I should have ordered it in magnums, so I would not have to pull corks so often. It is a new peak, largely because it is so sumptuous. It’s a treat, and it is to drink young.
