Located in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil in the Loire Valley, Domaine Amirault's Clos des Quarterons is a 92-acre vineyard. The Domaine has been in the Amirault family for six generations and is currently managed by Xavier Amirault and his wife, Agnès. The estate is 100% certified organic by Ecocert and certified biodynamic by Demeter. The biodynamic methods focus on both the environment and the terroir: soil, place, climate, varietal, and the methods of farming. The goal is to achieve a natural balance across the 53 plots of mostly Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc planted at the estate. This thoughtful method of farming is the Domaine's secret to offering unique and living wines, vintage after vintage.

The Wines:
Amirault Cremant les Quarterons $34.99
100% Aligote
The NV Parigot & Richard "Quartier Libre" Extra Brut is a fresh and lively Champagne-style sparkling wine with aromas of crisp green apple, citrus peel, and subtle floral notes. The palate is bright and vibrant, showcasing flavors of ripe lemon, white peach, and a touch of almond. The mousse is fine and persistent, with a lively acidity that leads to a clean, mineral-driven finish with a hint of toastiness from extended lees aging.
From the winemaker: "With beautiful aligoté grapes in our hands, we wanted to pay homage to this charming Burgundy grape variety and give free rein to our savoir faire, by creating a cuvée according to our desires, off the beaten track. Quartier Libre, a pure and direct cuvée, with an assertive indigenous character."
Parigot & Richard has been producing fine Crémant in Burgundy for five generations, and remains one of the very few domaines that focuses exclusively on these wines. Located in Savigny-lès-Beaune, with vineyards in both the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, Parigot is today directed by Grégory Georger, the current generation’s torchbearer. He adheres precisely in every respect to the traditional Méthode Champenoise, from hand-harvesting, pressing and fermentation, even hand-riddling.
Amirault Anjou Blanc Les Quarterons $39.99
Chenin Blanc
The "Les Quarterons" Anjou Blanc is a captivating expression of Chenin Blanc, showcasing aromas of crisp green apple, white peach, and citrus blossoms, with hints of honey and wet stone. On the palate, it is vibrant and medium-bodied, offering a harmonious blend of minerality and acidity that leads to a clean, refreshing finish.
Amirault St. Nicolas Les Quarterons $33.99
Cabernet Franc
The soils of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil are sandier than Cabernet Franc strongholds like Chinon and Saumur-Champigny. So, the wines from Saint-Nicolas tend to exhibit a featheriness on the palate, an irresistible lift and glide. Vinified and aged in tank, Les Quarterons is a light-hearted expression of Cabernet Franc with lots of raspberry, violet, red plum, and purple spice. ~Allegra A
Amirault St Nicolas Les Gravilces $38.99
Cabernet Franc
5 Star Wine
92-93 pts Jasper Morris
Decent red purple. The nose though is spectacular, ultra welcoming plums and dark raspberries, quite stunning fruit right across the palate with a gorgeous balanced deep red fruit. Brilliant fruit acid balance. Unmatchable. Drink from 2028-2035.
Variety: Pinot Noir
Vine Age: 1/3 of vines planted each in 1950, 1980, 1990
Terroir: Moderate to sleep slope, facing east. Light pink, gravelly (grèzes litées) soil. 270-300-meters elevation.
Viticulture: Certified organic, biodynamic methods
Vinification: 100% whole-cluster pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation. Aged for 18 months in barrel, low sulfur additions only at bottling.
Amirault St Nicolas Le Fondis $49.99
Cabernet Franc
This is a voluptuous, curvy Bourgueil. Aromas of plump dark fruit fill the nose with blackberry, black cherry, black plum and raspberry puree. A fulsome palate welcomes black olive and cassis, and balances velvety tannins that tease. — Reggie Solomon
