2022 Domaine de Châteaumar Côtes-du-Rhône Rosé Perle de Rosé, Rhône Valley, France
This wine’s intense pink rose petal color is slightly darker and more robust than the rosés of nearby Provence, which is indicative of the wine itself. A nose of macerated strawberries, raspberries, and peaches, with a faint earthy and peppery base, comes together with a fresh clay minerality on the soft, round, and slightly weighty palate. Well-integrated ripe cherry skin acidity is key in retaining this sturdy rosé’s balance and freshness, making it a fine companion for richer foods like grilled lamb loin chops, burgers, spicy sausages, fresh tomato sauced pastas, and mezze platters.
The estate is located 9 km from Orange, in the heart of the Côtes-du-Rhône AOP. The vineyards include 12 acres in the prestigious northern plain of Châteauneuf-du-Pape on red clay with large round galets, and 25 adjacent acres in Côtes-du-Rhône on stony clay-limestone soils. The vineyard is naturally established from several noble varieties of the Southern Rhône, principally Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Farming is organic, but uncertified. The soil is turned several times during the year which allows the vines to draw a wonderful energy from deep down to create beautifully formed grapes. Once matured, the grapes are hand-harvested, selected, and sorted.
2022 Château des Annibals Coteaux Varois en Provence Rosé Suivez-moi-jeune-homme, Provence, France
Blend: 35% Grenache, 50% Cinsault, 10% Syrah, and 5% Rolle
Aging: 6 months in stainless steel tanks
Winemaker Nathalie Coquelle’s classic Provence rosé is a coppery salmon color that’s as striking in its depth as its exuberant nose of raspberry, lime, mint, and warm sand.
Its organic viticulture and pedigree as the oldest winery in the appellation show on the unusually rich palate of strawberries and blueberries, with a crystalline minerality that lends freshness heading into the persistent, red-berried finish.
A superb and legendary rosé from this entirely solar-powered winery. Certified organic.
Gönc Winery 60’s, Stajerska, Slovenia.
Blend: 100% Kerner – Single Vineyard
Aging: 6 months in stainless steel
60’s is a very aromatic and crisp yet full-bodied white wine. It offers aromas of white flowers, green apple, citrus, and sea air. The palate is round and creamy with aromas carried over from the nose and a distinctive saline minerality. A delightful low sulfite wine perfect for all your seafood and warm nights.
Gönc winery is a family tradition going back to 1936, when Peter Gönc’s great grandfather built their first wine cellar and planted the vineyard around it in the small town of Dobrovnik in Slovenia. After World War II, his grandfather moved to the city Ptuj where he started working in the Ptujska Klet, or Ptuj wine cellar, as a cellar cleaner and worked his way up to head winemaker and CEO of the oldest winery in Slovenia, now known as Pullus.
Wine Dudes, Skin Contact White, Stajerska, Slovenia.
Blend: 100% Riesling
Everything happens for a RIESLING and because of that these two wine dudes decided to go with the flow and let the riesling finish its fermentation with funky native yeast on the skins for 14 days.
Wine was aged in stainless steel for 8 months to keep it crisp and fresh.
This natty wine is a perfect porch sipper with some melon, cream cheese and crackers.
Gonc Grape Abduction Orange, Stajerska, Slovenia.
Blend: Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Riesling
Aging: 5 months in stainless steel
A light amber color with an aromatically rich nose of ripe golden apple, quince, sweet brown spice, and hints of honey. On the palate, the wine is round with flavors from the nose and a good minerality. The finish is smooth and lingering with highlighted notes of sweet brown spices.
From far off in space, we observed your little blue and green planet, spinning around your great yellow sun at unimaginable speeds – well, at least they are unimaginable to you. And we realized that there was one special place on this planet with the perfect conditions to grow wine fit for the tastes of space: Stajerska, Slovenia.
2020 Mas de Janiny "C’est bien comme ça!" Rouge, France
Blend: 60% Syrah, 40% Carignan
This wine is gourmand, well-structured, very pure, and fruity. The palate is round with juicy and candled dark fruit aromas and very soft tannins. An easy drinking red wine that will complement all your meals nicely. Serve at 58 degrees.
It was at the end of the 1980‘s that Thierry decided to settle down and take over the family business with the help of his father.
Very quickly Pascal and his brother, a teacher in a business school, decided to join them. Mas de Janiny was born from this union. The 260-acre estate transitioned to organic farming immediately. Preserving the terroir, the environment and health were their concerns, they are still significant concerns today.
With Mas de Janiny, there is no concern for yield, the vine only produces what it can feed in a perfect balance in harmony with the nature around it.
2021 Domaine de Châteaumar Côtes-du-Rhône Cuvée Bastien, Rhône Valley, France
Blend: 100% Grenache
Aging: 8 to 10 months in concrete tanks
Cuvée Bastien, named after the winemakers’ son, is made from a single vineyard of 50+ year-old vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich, fruity, and elegant, with classic Châteauneuf Grenache character, but with a ripe and open-knit structure that makes its black cherry, spice, graphite and sweet earth accessible now.
