2023 Domaine Gassier "Effervescent" Blanc de Blanc, Rhone Valley, France $19.99
Overlooking the marshes of Camargue, our vineyards are cooled by Mediterranean breezes. This terroir of Rhône pebbles, atop veins of ancient seabed chalk – gives unique vibrance and minerality to our wines. This sparkling is fermented with native yeasts and aged on lees. Its fine bubbles and its mineral complexity will surprise you!
Nose : Tantalising floral notes ebb away to a gentle palate of peach and apple peel with a hint of brioche. Taste : Firm and dry on the palate, its clean finish makes it perfect for savory as well as sweeter foods.
2022 Domaine de Sacy "Les Bouffants" Sancerre, France $40.99
We adore this wonderfully textured Sancerre. The classic minerality is there, but you’ll find a real richness of fruit that comes as a pleasant surprise. Notes of orchard and tropical fruits prevail, while the wine maintains its refreshing crispness. Certified organic.
Domaine de Sacy Description
Sacy is a tiny hamlet near Crézancy and Bue. Karine Millet has just recently taken over the family domaine which includes four hectares of vines. Karine practices polyculture, the historical practice in Sancerre. Cow manure from the farm is used in the vineyards. The domaine is presently in conversion to certified Organic. Karine practices sustainable viticulture - no herbicides or pesticides - and the soil here is all Teres Blanches. Vines average 30 years with some 45 years and one parcel 65 years old. Harvest is done both by hand and mechanically. Vinification in tank.
2023 Domaine de Sacy Rose Sancerre, Loire Valley, France $29.99
Brimming with notes of fresh red berries, this rosé is fresh yet dry, with good structure and depth and just the right amount of acidity.
2023 Herve Villemade Cheverny Rouge, Loire Valley, France $25.99
A blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from the Loire Valley, all from certified organic vines from legendary producer Hervé Villemade. This wine uses some of the estate’s youngest vines which were cultivated by Hervé himself. This expression of Cheverny Rouge was vinified in entirely concrete to preserve the freshness of the fruit and keep the wine juicy and bright.
Hervé Villemade took over his father’s plot of vines in 1995, and everything was vinified conventionally at the time.
He was uninspired by conventional winemaking, and developed a serious sulfur allergy in 1997. During the year 2000 he decided to convert his property over to organic viticulture.
The vines of Pinot Noir and Gamay thrive in a mixture of sand, flint, clay and silex soils.
Vibes with:
Grilled fish.
Leveling up your red blend game.
2023 Domaine Olga Raffault Chinon "La Fraich", Loire Valley, France $22.99
100% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from very young vines in sandy, flat parcels near the winery not far from the the Vienne River. The farming is certified-organic and the harvest is manual. The berries are destemmed but not crushed and fermented with native yeasts in tank with a maceration of about 15 days. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for about 6 months before bottling. This vin de soif has a pretty and playful label that complements its style perfectly.
Olga Raffault passed away a few years ago, but the domaine has remained in the family and is now being run by her grand-daughter Sylvie and her husband Eric de la Vigerie.
2019 Collotte Marsannay "EnCombereau", Burgundy, France $45.99
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir
Winemaker Notes
An open, accessible Marsannay. Expressive bouquet of cherry, earth, truffle, and dried mushrooms. Softy and silky on the palate, with warm, delicate red fruit, alongside notes of flowers and sweet spice. Lovely tannins.
